Transfer of pupils between « homologue » French schools in London

A charter which applies to French London “ homologués” schools in London (the “Charter”) sets out a code of good conduct which regulates the transfer of pupils between schools accredited as homologué by the French Ministère de l’Education Nationale. It guarantees pupils the continuation of their French education in London until the end of their schooling in terminale. CFBL, the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle (LCDG), and since it opened in September 2015, the Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill (LILWC), are obliged to give priority to pupils who apply from other London homologué school over other pupils arriving from France or other countries (subject to their respective admission policy and availability of places).

However, to enable schools to apply this rule, pupils are required to pursue their studies in the school in which they are first enrolled until the end of the programme of studies offered by that school: this means that while parents are free to choose the first school their child attends, their child cannot transfer to another homologué school until he or she has completed the programme of studies offered by the first school unless they obtain the consent of the Heads of both schools and of the « poste diplomatique » ( Conseiller Culturel de l’Ambassade de France)

For CFBL pupils, this means that they cannot transfer to another « homologué » London school until the end of troisième without the consent of the Heads of both schools concerned and of the poste diplomatique.

At the same time, the Charter guarantees pupils a place in LCDG or LILWC up to terminale.
