Literacy food truck

Our Year 8 students took part in "Literacy Food Truck", a project organised conjointly by the library and the English Department.

All Year 8 students had to read from a minimum of 5 different food trucks (each food truck representing 1 genre: Taco Truck = Horror).

The idea was to encourage students to read 'outside the box' and discover all the resources of the CDI and their classroom library.

Students 'tasted' books from different genres by looking at the cover, the list of chapters and from reading each book's 1st/2nd page. Finally, they had to choose a book to read for the holidays.

Their homework is to imagine the book is a meal from the food truck they chose. For example, if their book is from The Pizza Truck: what kind of pizza would it be, what would be its secret ingredient, which drink would they serve with it, and if the ending was a sauce what would it be?

They will then take part in a speed-tasting with their partners, where they will make people feel like 'eating/reading' their book. The makers of the Tastiest Books presentation will receive prizes!
