An exceptional programme of thematic and language trips, fostering openness to the world

The School Council has approved a rich, ambitious programme strongly oriented towards openness to the world. Through carefully designed thematic and language trips, the school reaffirms its commitment to offering every student educational experiences that extend classroom learning and open new horizons. Fully aligned with the curriculum, these trips give meaning to academic work while nurturing an active curiosity—an essential skill in a constantly changing world.

Year 3 – Nature Camp: nature, science, sustainability and cooperation

Year 3 pupils will take part in a nature camp, an immersion in the heart of the natural world that represents a first step towards understanding and engaging with the living world. This trip will help them develop scientific observation skills, understand the impact of human activities on the environment, spark curiosity, and strengthen cooperation within the group. Fully connected to the science curriculum, it fosters autonomy while raising awareness of sustainability issues in a stimulating and discovery-rich natural setting.

Year 6 – Normandy: understanding history by exploring the places that shaped it

Year 6 classes will travel to Normandy to follow in the footsteps of the Second World War. Museums, landing beaches and memorials will provide a tangible encounter with history, enabling students to connect classroom knowledge with the reality of the world. This trip helps develop historical awareness, an understanding of the past, and an essential openness to contemporary issues.

Year 8 – Iceland: scientific discovery in a unique environment

Year 8 students will have the opportunity to explore Iceland, a country of spectacular landscapes. Volcanoes, glaciers and geothermal phenomena will serve as a hands-on field laboratory for geography and life sciences. Immersion in such an exceptional environment will deepen their understanding of our planet, its fragilities, and the challenges of sustainable development.

Year 8 – Stratford-upon-Avon: cultural immersion in the world of Shakespeare
As an alternative to the Iceland trip, a journey to Stratford-upon-Avon will allow Year 7 students to walk in the footsteps of William Shakespeare. Theatre performances, workshops with actors, meetings and visits to landmark sites will all enrich their English and literature courses. Far from being a secondary option, this trip offers another meaningful way to open up to the world—through language, theatre and cultural heritage—particularly relevant in this anniversary year of the playwright’s birth.

Year 9 – Language trips: Spain, Germany, China
A global immersion to broaden horizons
Year 9 students will experience a truly international immersion, adapted to their second language of study:
In Spain (Valencia), they will take part in an exchange with the French school in the city during its festive season—an authentic cultural immersion that strengthens both language learning and intercultural understanding.
In Germany, led by Mrs Birch, students will travel to Bavaria, between Munich and Salzburg. This language trip provides a lively and concrete discovery of the German-speaking world.
In China, in collaboration with the L.I.L., a 10-day programme combining homestays, cultural experiences and time in school will offer an exceptional opportunity to discover one of the world’s most fascinating civilisations.

Year 10 – Basque Country: an end-of-year trip rooted in identity and cultural openness
After the Brevet exams, Year 10 students will enjoy an end-of-year trip to the Basque Country. Blending culture, heritage, sports activities and the discovery of a region with a strong identity, this journey will be a memorable moment in their educational pathway—one of cohesion, celebration and cultural openness before entering the sixth form.

A clear commitment: educating students who are open-minded, curious and aware of the world
Through this structured, diverse programme, fully aligned with the curriculum, the school reaffirms its ambition to offer a stimulating educational pathway deeply rooted in openness to the world. These trips will help students connect knowledge with lived experience while fostering curiosity, autonomy, global awareness and personal growth.
