A new initiative in CE2 PE lessons is helping pupils recognise the best in one another while building a more positive sports culture.
Recently introduced by the PE team, the Positive Snitch encourages pupils to notice and celebrate examples of their classmates demonstrating six core values that connect shared elements of British and French culture: respect, fair play and justice, freedom and expression, equality and inclusion, team spirit and fraternity, and responsibility and commitment.
From the very first lessons, pupils embraced the idea with enthusiasm. Instead of focusing on complaints, they were invited to highlight moments when their peers showed kindness, fairness, encouragement and responsibility. It was particularly encouraging to see some pupils who do not usually speak in class finding the confidence to contribute and speak positively about others.
This shift in focus is already helping to create a more supportive atmosphere in lessons. By recognising positive behaviour in real time, pupils are developing a stronger sense of teamwork, mutual respect and shared responsibility.
As part of the initiative, pupils who demonstrate these values receive ticks or marks, which will contribute to house points with support from Oliver. These points will be recorded on a dedicated sports page and will reflect both lesson-time contributions and participation in extracurricular sporting activities.
A very positive start to an initiative that promises to strengthen both character and community through sport.
