Primary House Captains Launch New Initiatives

At CFBL, the House system continues to play an important role in strengthening community spirit across the school. This term, a new initiative has been introduced in Primary: the election of House Captains.

From January, pupils in CM2 (Y6) were invited to put themselves forward for the role by preparing campaign videos and posters to present their ideas to the school. After watching the candidates’ presentations, pupils from CE1 to CM2 (Y3-6) took part in a vote to elect two House Captains per house.

The elected captains will represent their houses throughout the year and work together in a House Council to help organise events and activities for Primary pupils. Their responsibilities include planning and promoting events, supporting competitions, helping to keep house point displays up to date, and encouraging positive sporting behaviour and team spirit across the school.

The House Captains are already beginning to plan activities. On 26 March, Primary pupils will take part in a House Colours Day, where they will be encouraged to come to school wearing the colours of their house and earn points for their team.

The captains are also preparing a Primary art competition, which will take place later in the term.

These initiatives give pupils the opportunity to develop leadership skills, work collaboratively and contribute to the life of the school while strengthening the friendly competition that is at the heart of the CFBL House system.
