STEAM Week Round-Up: a week full of discovery!

STEAM Week was once again a highlight of school life, offering pupils many opportunities to explore, experiment and learn in different ways through a wide range of projects combining science, creativity and critical thinking.

Year 6 pupils brought the week to a fantastic close with their Science Fair, held after school on Friday 20 March, organised as a true “market of knowledge”. This friendly event gave pupils the chance to present their scientific projects and share their discoveries with families and other pupils.

For Year 2, the month of March was shaped by the Ma Petite Planète programme, with a series of engaging eco-challenges. It was a great way to raise awareness of environmental issues while encouraging pupils to adopt practical everyday actions.

In Reception, pupils extended their learning at home by carrying out simple science experiments, fostering curiosity and family involvement.

Year 5 pupils celebrated science through an inspiring project: creating a portrait of a female scientist each day, helping them discover influential figures and highlight the role of women in science.

In Year 3, pupils became budding volcanologists through a volcano experiment, combining observation with exciting chemical reactions.

The youngest pupils were equally involved:

  • In Nursery (MS), children explored the concept of floating and sinking through hands-on experiments.

  • In Nursery (PS), they discovered colour mixing, sparking their sensory curiosity

Finally, some pupils also took part in the Kangaroo Maths Challenge, testing their logic and mathematical thinking in a fun and stimulating way.

A dynamic and inspiring week that allowed everyone to develop their scientific mindset, creativity and love of exploration!
