Year 7 (CM2) Induction Trip to the Isle of Wight

From 23 to 25 September, our Year 7 pupils will be heading to the Isle of Wight for their induction trip.

These three days will give pupils the opportunity to get to know one another better, build new friendships and strengthen connections within their cohort, while sharing a wide range of experiences outside the classroom.

A varied and action-packed programme awaits them, including:

  • Giant Swing – a thrilling giant swing experience;

  • Matrix – an activity combining problem-solving, agility and teamwork;

  • Zip Wire – an exciting zip wire descent;

  • Problem Solving – team challenges to tackle together;

  • Orienteering – learning to navigate while working collaboratively;

  • Archery – an introduction to archery;

  • Kayaking – a water-based activity to make the most of their stay.

The evenings will be just as busy, with an “Ambush” themed evening as well as a disco, providing two fun and relaxed opportunities for pupils to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company.

Growing together

Beyond the activities themselves, the aim of this induction trip is to support pupils as they begin secondary school and help them develop skills that are essential to life within a community.

During the trip, pupils will have the opportunity to:

  • build connections with other pupils;

  • learn to cooperate and support one another;

  • respect others and the rules of community life;

  • develop active listening, kindness and team spirit;

  • dare to step outside their comfort zone;

  • take on new challenges;

  • persevere when faced with difficulties;

  • build confidence in themselves and in others.

All of these experiences will help pupils develop greater independence, confidence and team spirit, while creating valuable memories together as they begin their Year 7 journey.

We wish them a wonderful trip, full of discovery, challenges and shared experiences!
