This term, Year 3 were treated to a special visit from one of our parents, who shared her knowledge of Brazilian carnival culture with the class. Students learned about the history and traditions of this vibrant celebration — known for its spectacular parades, elaborate costumes, samba music and its roots in Brazil's rich multicultural heritage.
Our visiting parent is also a published children's author, and she very generously gifted the class a copy of her book Santa's Vacation, in which Santa heads to Brazil and experiences the magic of carnival first hand — a wonderful way to bring the topic to life for young readers.
We are grateful to our parent community for sharing their knowledge and experiences with us. If you would like to be involved in a future classroom visit, please contact your child's teacher.
