Imperial College London visit for our Year 10 students - Article written by Clara Year 10 student

On Tuesday 25th March, as part of STEAM week and Parcours Avenir program, 20 students in 3ème/Year 10 had the amazing opportunity to visit one of London’s most prestigious universities, Imperial College.

Situated mainly in South Kensington, this esteemed institution is surrounded by London’s rich history and culture, with three highly-visited museums just a short walk away and, of course, the Royal Albert Hall just around the corner!

With an insightful presentation from a student administrator, we gained a better understanding of university life and the incredible opportunities it offers—such as the chance to study abroad for a Master’s year at MIT! Armed with plenty of questions, we explored the world of STEMB (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business), seeing firsthand how these subjects open endless possibilities.

We also learned about Imperial’s exciting new undergraduate course in the Business School: Economics, Finance, and Data Science. This innovative program is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in the intersection of business and technology.

After the presentation, we were amazed to hear that Imperial College has an incredible 229 food and drink outlets scattered across the campus! Following this, we were given a tour of the university by two Imperial College students, who generously showed us around and introduced us to the wide range of facilities, study spaces, and activities available.

Finally, we discovered how we could start shaping our futures now by getting involved in extracurricular and super-curricular activities—valuable experiences that help build character and prepare us for university life. We quickly understood that being a university student requires dedication, ambition, and drive.

More importantly, it is a journey of self-discovery, a path where we expand our knowledge and bring it forward into our futures.

On behalf of all the students who had the privilege of taking part in this incredible opportunity, we express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Lok, who made this trip possible, and to the faculty at Imperial College for hosting us so warmly. We hope this experience has successfully immersed students in the spirit of STEAM week and inspired them to explore new academic possibilities.
