This week, CFBL is marking International Deaf Awareness Week, an opportunity to celebrate the Deaf community, learn more about Deaf culture and raise awareness of the experiences of Deaf and hard of hearing people around the world.
As part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), we want our pupils to develop curiosity, understanding and respect for the many different people and communities that make up our world.
In school, some of our primary pupils have been exploring what it means to be a good ally to someone who is Deaf or hard of hearing, including through the video below.
We also encourage families to continue the conversation at home: you might learn a few words in British Sign Language (BSL), discover more about Deaf culture, or simply talk together about how small actions can help everyone feel included and understood.
