May of Languages: when students dance to the rhythm of culture

As part of the May of Languages, students in Year 8 and Year 9 had the opportunity to take part in a series of dance workshops designed to promote intercultural learning. This project, focused on discovery and openness, allowed students to explore cultural traditions connected to the languages they are studying.

One of the highlights of this language-focused month was the participation of the German classes in Year 8 (5ème) and Year 9 (4ème) who learned a traditional dance from the German-speaking world: the Viennese Waltz (Wiener Walzer). With the support of their teachers and professional dancers, students were introduced to the elegance and grace of this classical dance.

This shared experience brought language learning to life by connecting German with an authentic artistic practice. It gave students a better understanding of Germanic culture while helping them develop a sense of rhythm, coordination, and teamwork.

Workshops like this one truly capture the spirit of the May of Languages: learning through new experiences, discovering the world, and expressing oneself in new ways. A wonderful success that students will surely remember for a long time!
