This week, our school welcomed the nutritionist from Holroyd Howe, our caterer, who presented several balanced dishes to the pupils, linked to the theme of sport and nutrition. The session, which took place in the hall, just outside the canteen, allowed everyone to discover new flavours while understanding the importance of a varied diet suited to physical activity.
Sport and nutrition: an essential balance
The nutritionist reminded pupils that to stay healthy and perform well in sport, the body needs the right fuel. Eating well helps with recovery, concentration, and maintaining energy throughout the day.
Focus on iron and protein
She also explained the importance of iron, which helps transport oxygen in the blood, and protein, which is essential for building and repairing muscles. The dishes presented illustrated these key nutrients in a practical and tasty way.
A tasty and nutritious tasting
Pupils had the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes, designed to be both balanced and enjoyable:
Feta and lentil salad,
Boiled eggs with spinach,
Cucumber with edamame,
Quinoa, spinach and turkey salad,
as well as a healthy dessert: chocolate and banana mousse with no added sugar.
Curious and enthusiastic pupils
The pupils were very curious and enthusiastic, asking many questions and enjoying the dish. Many appreciated discovering simple, tasty recipes that are also good for health.
This event was a fun, educational and inspiring way to encourage healthier eating habits.
