Workshops on consent at school

Last week, nursery and primary pupils took part in workshops raising awareness of consent and respect for the body, as well as learning about positive relationships. The sessions were led by Hélène Babin, an external facilitator who has been working with the CFBL for the past three years.

These one-hour workshops were age-appropriate and delivered in two complementary formats:

  • Using everyday-life scenarios for CE1 to CM2 classes, encouraging pupils to reflect, discuss and develop their critical thinking skills.

  • Rotation-based workshops using the playful educational tool “Loto du consentement” for PS to CP classes, providing a fun and accessible approach for younger children.

Through this approach, pupils were actively engaged in games, discussions and role-play, helping them to better understand respect for themselves and others, recognise their emotions, and learn how to set and respect boundaries.

A graduate of HEC, Hélène Babin spent over ten years working in the corporate sector before fully dedicating herself to issues of equality, respect and living together. Sensitive to these challenges, she founded her own organisation four years ago to work full-time on these topics with children, teenagers and adults. Her work focuses in particular on gender equality, challenging stereotypes, healthy relationships, bullying prevention, empathy and emotions.

Hélène Babin now works in a wide range of settings, including schools (primary, secondary and sixth form), local authorities, associations and businesses, both in France and the United Kingdom.

These workshops were very well received by the pupils and fully support the school’s commitment to fostering a safe, respectful and caring learning environment for all.
